What this engagement delivers
Most live game studios have strong engineers and a live game with real payers. What they lack is a dedicated person who owns the monetization roadmap: someone who tracks ARPPU week over week, designs offer experiments, and ensures every LiveOps event has a tested monetization layer before it ships.
This engagement fills that gap without the overhead of a full-time hire. You get structured experiment cadence, an actively maintained backlog of dev-ready test specs, and a monthly readout of what moved your numbers and why.
Studios with in-house dev capacity often proceed directly from the Audit to the Retainer, skipping the Infrastructure Sprint. Studios that already have a monetization PM use this engagement differently — as a senior outside perspective to pressure-test roadmap decisions and own the experiment program.
Month 1 structure
The first month is structured differently from ongoing months. The goal is to establish baseline, align the team, and put the first experiment in flight before the month ends.
Audit findings review + team onboarding
Walk through the scorecard with your monetization and engineering leads. Align on the revenue delta model. Establish KPI baseline: ARPPU, payer conversion rate, first-purchase day, average transaction value. Set up reporting cadence.
Experiment backlog build
Design 8–12 dev-ready experiment specifications drawn from the highest-scoring Opportunity Index dimensions. Each spec includes hypothesis, success metric, minimum detectable effect, required traffic, implementation notes, and priority ranking.
First test launch + roadmap presentation
Finalize the first experiment spec with your engineering team. Present the 90-day monetization roadmap with sequenced tests, risk flags, and go/no-go criteria for each. Ongoing monthly cadence begins.
What this typically includes
Every engagement is scoped to your team's needs. The structure below reflects a typical retainer — your roadmap may weight some areas more than others.
- 2–4 experiment specifications designed per month (dev-ready)
- ARPPU and payer conversion tracking against baseline
- Offer cadence review: timing, bundle mix, pricing ladder
- LiveOps event monetization brief (before each major event)
- Monthly readout: test results, learnings, next experiments
- Competitive offer audit refresh (quarterly, not monthly)
- Monetization roadmap maintained and reprioritized
What this is not
This engagement is strategy and experiment design, not execution. Your team implements. This is intentional: the value compounds when your engineering and art team builds what the experiment specs describe.
- —Engineering or development work — your team implements
- —Art direction or UI design for offer screens
- —Customer support or community management
- —Platform negotiation or app store optimization
- —Game design or core loop balancing
◆ Prerequisite
The Fractional engagement requires a completed Monetization Audit (or one running concurrently). The scorecard, revenue delta model, and experiment roadmap from the Audit are the foundation the retainer operates on.
No prior audit from LootRate? The engagement begins with the Audit ($7,500 · 10 business days). The two can run concurrently: the Audit completes in Week 2, and the Fractional Month 1 structure picks up from there.
